IMEI stands for International Mobile Equipment Identity. It consists of fifteen (15) numeric digits defined on mobile phones that specifically identify them worldwide. The IMEI number is unique for each phone.

The term invalid IMEI applies to those cases of IMEI that are not original, that is, they do not match with approved and recognized manufacturer's numbering.

 

​​​​​In this case users should contact any ETECSA’s Commercial Office within 30 calendar days to clarify the problem and request to unblock it, otherwise their service will be cancelled.

​​​​​To comply with the Resolution issued by the Ministry of Communications, whose objective is to protect users from purchasing fake phones, or others that could be involved in criminal acts or losses, etc. This also helps to prevent the improper use of devices and the proliferation of criminal acts.

​​​​​​Dial on your phone the *#06# code and the IMEI(s) will be displayed on the screen, depending on the number of card slots it has to place SIM. 

You should also check that it matches with the one printed on the product packaging or under the phone's battery, as well as in the handset settings.

Once you know the IMEI of your phone, you can also check out through the site http://www.etecsa.cu, if it meets the requirements to use the ETECSA’s mobile network, following the indications provided.

​​​​​ETECSA is not responsible for this action, however if it is your decision before buying a device from unofficial sources, the company suggests that you first verify that the IMEI is valid, for this purpose you do not have to insert your SIM into the phone, proceed with the following steps:

  1. Dial the *#06# code on such phone and its IMEI(s) will be displayed on the screen, depending on the SIM slot(s) it has.
  2. Check out that the IMEI(s) displayed consists of 15 numeric digits, i.e. that it does not have any letters or begin with 00 and that it also matches with the one printed on the label of the equipment's board, the handset’s settings and the one in box if it has it.
  3. You can also check out on the Web http://www.etecsa.cu, enter the IMEI number you want to verify according to the indications offered by the consulting site, obtaining as an answer whether or not you are authorized to connect to our network at that moment.

If your line is blocked, either by inserting your SIM in a blacklisted device, or by having an invalid IMEI device, you must go within 30 calendar days to any ETECSA’s commercial office to clarify the problem and request to unblock it, otherwise your service will be cancelled.
