ETECSA for the use of renewable energy. UNE and ETECSA sign a contract for the generation of electricity through photovoltaic systems.
This year ETECSA began to implement the Indications of Alejandro Gil Fernández, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Planning, related to the Directives for the development, maintenance and sustainability of Renewable Sources and the Efficient Use of Energy.
However, for several years our company had already identified the effectiveness of the programs for renewable energy, even before the regulations in force in the country were approved.
Due to the social and economic impact; they were an opportunity that we should take advantage of, so we began to take steps in this regard, and advanced in certain short-range actions, but which are already incorporated into a comprehensive program, included in our study of business feasibility, plans and strategic projections in the medium and long term.
ETECSA has shown that it is committed to this modality, due to its proven effectiveness and efficiency. This is demonstrated by the more than 130 vehicles that we have throughout the country that use this energy, as well as the solar panels installed in technological premises, rural and urban areas, in different scenarios, verifying the savings we have had from the point of view of consumption energetic and monetary.
This was expressed to the press by Tania Velázquez Rodríguez, executive president of ETECSA, once the signing of the Financing Contract No. 1 between the Electric Union (UNE) and our company for the generation of electricity through photovoltaic systems, during a ceremony held at the headquarters of the Ministry of Energy and Mines.
It was chaired by Liván Nicolás Arronte Cruz, Minister of Energy and Mines; and Jorge Armando Cepero Hernández, director of the Electric Union (UNE). By ETECSA, President Tania Velázquez, who received a Certificate “For contracting 1,230 kWp of photovoltaic power, allowing it to consume clean energy for the next 20 years, for a value of 36,900 MWh that avoids emitting 31,000 into the atmosphere. tons of CO2". It is signed by the director of the UNE, dated December 8, 2021.
The Contract establishes that Unión Eléctrica will use this financing exclusively for photovoltaic development, will carry out the construction of the parks, and will take care of operating and maintaining them.
The UNE from the month following the payment of the photovoltaic energy power, will begin to deduct from the electricity bill the equivalent kWh generated by the financed virtual Park at a rate of 125 kWh / kWp, which will save the company 54% of the initial budget.
This agreement, assured the President of ETECSA, more than a contribution, it is an opportunity that they offer us to continue helping to promote the use of renewable energies in the country.
