Third Cybersecurity Workshop continues in session. Organized by the Security Operations Division (DOPS), the Third Cybersecurity
Workshop continues to be held at the theater of the Ministry of Communications, a necessary and timely event, especially due to the threats and attacks to which our networks and systems are subjected in today's world marked by the dizzying development of telecommunications, which forces us to be prepared and always alert.
It is important to inform all those interested in such an important topic that they can access the presentations and conferences of this third edition, through the ToDus platform, in the group created for this purpose: III Cybersecurity Workshop, which will conclude next Friday, December 10.
During the second day, -also by videoconference for the whole country- speakers, panelists and participants from ETECSA and other organizations related to the subject, had the opportunity to exchange experiences, raise doubts, make suggestions and proposals.
It began with the lecture given by guests from Segurmática (Consulting and Computer Security Company) on the Behavior of malicious programs in Cuba from 2019 to 2021, the main ones detected, including some very recent ones, their modus operandi and how they spread. The detailed explanation underlines the importance of being always alert, with updated antivirus, and all the computer security measures in the devices.
Very interesting and instructive was the panel on Cybersecurity Incident Management, and how this activity is assumed in different sectors. It was very enriching, as not only the context of telecommunications was addressed, but also that of strategic entities such as the biopharmaceutical industry, something we learned about through the intervention of the Cybersecurity directive of BioCubaFarma.
The panel was moderated by Pablo Domínguez, director of Cybersecurity of the Ministry of Communications, which also included the participation of representatives of OSRI (Office for the Security of Computer Networks), and DOPS, as the main manager of the activity in ETECSA. Therefore, it is an internal event of the company, but quite atypical and for the better, due to the wide participation of external speakers and guests, which provide us with a broader view of the activity at the country level.
The papers presented today, with great quality and depth of analysis, all excellent proposals for solutions, designed to find new ways and technologies to detect threats against our devices, networks and systems in time, because the risks are growing, so we must take a leap. The works presented and discussed also ratify that, although there is still work to be done, much progress has been made in ETECSA and in the country in terms of cybersecurity.
The workshop bears witness to a quote that closed one of the presentations: "ICT security is a relative and circumstantial process, which depends a lot on what we do today and what we plan for tomorrow".
