Telecom Workers forever!
In our country, nowadays, communications, informatics and electronics show important transformations. The commendable work of ETECSA’s workers is in every service, product or application developed to improve the lives of Cubans.
We have more than enough reasons to celebrate with joy the closing of the activities for the Telecom Workers’ Day; there will be a celebration in each work group in order to encourage colleagues, outstanding groups and collaborators.
As part of the celebration program, works are being carried out to improve technological facilities and new services are being implemented throughout the country, among other activities.
Two great moments marked the day: an emotional exchange with workers who have been working continuously in the sector for more than 50 years. They were honored with the 50th Anniversary Certificate, and a visit to the museum Casa de los Mártires (Martyrs’ House), in the municipality of Colón, where Mario Muñoz Monroy, radio amateur and doctor, who participated in the actions on July 26, 1953, spent his last years.
At the same time, recreational-educational activities such as chess and domino tournaments, soccer games and tours to historical sites are being held. At the headquarters of the Territorial Division of Camagüey, a valuable exhibition dedicated to the beginning of cellular telephony in Cuba and its development in the province was inaugurated yesterday.
The climax of the event will be on this February 24 with the National Ceremony to be held in Pinar del Río, date that commemorates the first broadcasting of the Radio Rebelde Station in 1958.
The participation of our collaborators during these months fighting against the Covid-19 has been essential in social interventions, blood donations, inquiries across communities, isolation centers, hospitals, red zones and sanitation work in the neighborhoods.
Congratulations, Telecom workers!
